His Excellency Prof. Steve Ugbah, Nigerian Ambassador to the Russian Federation with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Belarus received in audience Mr. Dmitry Osipov the Chairman of the Russia-Nigeria Business Council and Mr. Valeriy Vozdvizhensky Executive Director of the Council on Thursday 23 August, 2018.
His Excellency noted that his primary goal was to open Russia for Nigeria to explore. He informed the Chairman that Nigeria with a population of over 200 million people has the market as well as human resources, and is willing to engage more with Russia. The sides discussed the state of cordial relations between Nigeria and Russia in terms of trade and investment and the ways forward for economic development of mutual benefits.
At the meeting, special attention was given to the level of business engagements between the two countries and also to the opportunities, as both sides stressed the importance of working out a mechanism for favourable conditions for direct contacts between Nigerian business men and their Russian counterparts.
They also agreed on the need for cooperation in the fertilizer production, agriculture, oil and gas, mining etc, as well as to organize trade fairs and exhibitions in order to showcase the two countries rich culture and resources
